Progress on my Ballista

So I've started applying my bakes to my low poly mesh and organizing the UV. Everything is now on one material for the upper half of the ballista. It's pretty challenging managing all of these objects but it's gotten much easier as time has gone on to get the job done. I'm pleased with how well everything is going and while I still have a lot to learn its easy to see how far I've come since even this summer. I'm confident that my project will look good when I'm done with it.

School Update 1

Hey guys , its the first week of school and we have been assigned to create a science fiction style hallway for Unreal Development Kit. Here are my concepts for the hallway. The first two with the colored parts are the designs I decided to go with. The ones in the last picture are 2 other possible versions I can make based on my original plan. Hopefully the professor likes the first one , i think it's the best of both worlds.

The new direction.

So I'm going to be taking this thing to the next level. Instead of making it a Sci-Fi Mall like I originally planned , using lots of Metals and lights in the design ( like so many others do) I'm going to be going for something more elegant. I want to create a mall out of black Marble , Metal and Stone work. Many of the designs are going to carry over , but the texture work will be different. Focusing more on a Luxurious feeling than a space ship feeling. While still maintaining the Sci-Fi goals I set before. Hopefully this will blend well and make things look cool in the end. Here are some more screenshots of the textures I'm making for things like the floor and stairs.

Progress for the beginning of the month.

So I worked on this project a little bit more over the past few days. For short bursts/long bursts of time all spread out. I spent most of my time trying to approach the problem of creating an interesting staircase for my mall. I Made texture changes and am aiming for a new look. This project is far from done and it's  been a great learning experience so far. Here are the screenshots I made in that time.

Some progress in modularity

I tested out some new wall designs 2 weeks ago in UDK , so far I like them. I am going to work on stairs and possibly the elevator placement , after that phase is complete I will finally begin coloring things in and working on the next set of objects needed. Storefronts and props.

As I approach my third year of college studying Game Art and Animation I have decided to pursue Environmental / Level Art for Video Games.
